In Memory

What a week. This morning we lost a local figure here in Charlotte. Her story has been one that has touched so many hearts.

Mellisa Greer. A beautiful 27 year year old who gave us the weather report on our local TV station WBT. She found out she was pregnant with her first baby. A baby boy. Conner. The news was so exciting. But it was over-shadowed by the grim reality that while at the doctor's office looking at the "new bundle" they found she had a rare cervical cancer. So rare that they would have not found it had she not become pregnant.

This morning, a couple of months after delivery Conner.. in an early sceduled C-Section (he was not due till April)... she lost her life.

She wrote in her blog, one week ago today, that she was ready to go to heaven. Ready to meet her Lord and Savior. In no means did we, those who tracked her progress, think that she was out of the "woods".. but she was so young and so promising. Such a light. So strong. She was 27. 27. A new mom. So young and so beautiful.

One life, again. Touching so many.

With all the tragedies going on this past week I think one of our fellow bloggers summed it up completely by simply saying "I don't have all the answers but I do know how to pray." (Sorry I can't recall where I read it.)

God must have a special purpose for that baby since He kept his mommy around long enough for him to have a chance at life.

This past week has definitely been tragic. My prayers are with her baby boy and family. Her story is very moving and her wonderful legacy will live on through her son. It sounds like she was strong in her faith, which is comforting.
